MAJOR GENERAL MARK STRUDWICK CBE KStJ
Mark Strudwick is Prior of the Order of St John Scotland and Chairman of the Trustees of the Scottish National War Memorial in Edinburgh Castle.
He was commissioned from The Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, into The Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment) and has served in UK, BAOR (British Army on the Rhine), Cyprus, India and Northern Ireland (mentioned in Despatches twice). He commanded the 1st Battalion in BAOR and 3 Infantry Brigade in Armagh, with appointments in the Ministry of Defence thereafter, as Deputy Military Secretary and Director of Infantry. He concluded his military service as GOC Scotland (General Officer Commanding for Scotland) and Governor of Edinburgh Castle.
After leaving the Army, Mark became Chief Executive of The Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust for 12 years. He remains an Ensign in The Queen’s Body Guard for Scotland (the Royal Company of Archers), as well as a Member of Council.
Married to Sue with 5 children and 15 grandchildren between them, they relish travel, their garden, dogs and most country pursuits.
